Negative Exponents are very easy to learn. Below a practical example is shown first. After the practical example, an abstract example is shown how to handle every problem.
  • An practical example of negative exponent follows:
    ( 4 ) −3
    4 −3
    1 4 3
    1 4 × 4 × 4
    1 64
  • An abstract example how to solve negative exponents follows:
    ( Number ) −Exponent
    Number −Exponent
    1 Number+Exponet

There is one important exception. Dividing by zero is prohibited. The answer is undefined. Another way of saying this is if the base number is zero the problem can not be solved.
