# Learn Division By Example And Definitions: Divide, Dividend, Divisor, And Quotient

## Division Example

A simple example will be used to explain these definitions. Let's answer the question with an example. Ms. James buys a bag of six peaches. She wants to give each son of her three sons an even number of peaches. How many peaches does each boy get?

There are six peaches: How many peaches does the first son get? How many peaches does the second son get? How many peaches does the third son get? ### How do we show this in integer Division math?

• Visually: ÷ = • Numerically: 6 ÷ 3 = 2

Division Definitions
