We got the right answer but how come 612 and 306 are not lined up exactly? The answer to the question involves the Multiplier (24). The number four of 24 is in the ones column which means we multiply 1 × 4 × multiplicand-Number. The number two of 24 is in the tens column which means we multiply 10 × 2 × multiplicand-Number. Instead of multiplying by ten we move the number over one column. This has the same affect.
